The Laboratory was founded in 1996 aiming to support the research and educational activity of the Department of Geography of the University of the Aegean, in the sciences of Cartography and Geographical Information. By implementing a significant number of research projects, financed by National and European resources, it contributed to the education of a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Diachronically, it expands its research and educational interests in innovative research areas of Cartography and Geoinformatics, and today it is composed of four (4) independent research groups.
