Dr Georgios Tataris

Dr. George Tataris holds a BSc from the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki as Civil Engineer and both an MSc and PhD in Geography from the University of the Aegean. His academic focus spans historical geography, cartography, geovisualization, and geoinformation. Dr. Tataris has been an active member of the Cartography and Geoinformation Laboratory since 2003, contributing to a variety of research projects. He completed his doctoral studies in 2022 at the University of the Aegean, where he was awarded a PhD in Geography for his thesis titled “The Evolution of the Settlements of Lesbos in the Second Half of the 20th Century.” His research interests encompass thematic cartography, scale issues in cartography, 3D geovisualization, contemporary surveying techniques, and innovative approaches to cartographic imaging. Dr. Tataris has co-authored several scholarly publications focused on geographic database infrastructures in marine spatial planning, geovisualization, 3D visualization, and the long-term monitoring of restoration following natural disasters.
